I think I’ve mentioned before that the outside of our house looks like a construction site right now…well, I guess it IS a construction site. Three wonderful guys are swarming up and down the sides of the house, replacing rotted pieces with pristine, in the sweltering, pouring sweat heat. The hus got out of their hair and ran errands yesterday…my work day ended early, in time for me to catch the start of the Brazil v. Chile soccer game, and in time for me to meet up with him at one of his favorite local BBQ places, The Chicken Bone Saloon. Over jalapeno poppers, buffalo mac ‘n cheese (him) and fish ‘n chips (her), we watched Brazil blow past Chile 3-0, toasting them with Absolut and grapefruit (him) and Cosmo (her). We left a few minutes before the end of the game to be in place to catch the real show. Chicken Bone is in the middle of Framingham, right around the corner from the predominantly Brazilian neighborhood of stores and dwellings. As we pulled out of the parking lot, the roads in front of us were clogged with cars and trucks festooned with Brazilian flags, kids hanging out windows waving Brazilian soccer shirts, horns honking and music blaring…a happy, noisy throng and we were right there in the middle! Although it took us over 20 minutes to progress three blocks, it was a joyous event and we were thrilled to be in the midst. When we got home, we looked at each other and wondered, if the party was this big after a knockout round win, what will it be like if/when Brazil wins the whole thing?! Maybe time for another trip to The Saloon!
