I admit it. I’m an email junkie. I work all day at a computer with internet access. On nights I don’t have rehearsal, I have my laptop with me. Suddenly my son and I (we share a Verizon family plan) got a hankering for a Voyager or a Blackberry. He is leaving next month on a long bike trip and could use an all-in-one unit (GPS, etc.). I am very proud of myself. I have been doing research. This is not like me. I have impulse issues and am not the most patient person. But this little adventure isn’t cheap and there are just WAY too many things to think about. The bottom line is that either of those two options commits me to spending $80-90 a month for a cell phone, for pity’s sake. What is wrong with me?
We’ll see how long I can resist.
That’s been the major drawback that has prevented me from getting one….not the initial cost, but the ongoing monthly charges. I would probably get one if I ever found myself in a situation without regular internet/email access (such as an office without a connection, or being forbidden from accessing my personal mail at work), but otherwise I’ll just stick with the desktop and laptops.
I’ve never used a GPS, but also never found myself longing for one.
