I love autumn in New England. I was born and raised in Hemet, CA, a high desert farm town on the backside of Palm Springs where temps were regularly in the 100s…the seasons were HOT and sunny and not quite so HOT and sunny. I didn’t know that leaves changed colors…I thought leaves fell off trees because they got too dry and the Santa Ana winds were blowing. Footwear consisted mainly of flip-flops and sneakers, year round.
Fast forward to New England…four strong seasons, pleasure and pain associated with each. As far as I’m concerned, there aren’t many downsides to autumn. The temperatures are more pleasant, ranging from the 80s at the beginning of the season to the 40s near the end…love wearing layers! And the scenery?
These photos are representative, but can’t begin to convey the wondrousness of an October fall day. Of course, I think we are so enthusiastic about autumn because we know what lies just around the corner…
