My days (years, actually) of writing on this blog went into an unforeseen hiatus this last year, when photographs of the world around me suddenly screamed out to be shared. I have really missed writing, though, and my subconscious must have realized it needed to do something BIG enough to shake things up.
I volunteered at the library yesterday (we were open for three hours on New Year’s Eve so that folks could check out movies and audiobooks to help get through the frigid Eve and Day. I took along my camera in case I saw something that needed sharing with the library newsletter. I put the camera down next to my cataloging computer and hung up my coat with my phone and gloves in it…and a really happy three hours ensued…three of my favorite co-workers and I shared hot coffee and life stories, reshelved books and catalogued magazines and then closed up the library, trudged across the icy parking lot into cars and headed home…I without my camera.
So, this morning’s first of the year photoblog post is of necessity a bit different (and will be tomorrow, I fear, as the library’s not open until 10am). The few photos I have were taken on my IPhone and are completely out of my comfort zone. But, maybe that’s a good thing…maybe my subconscious was giving my brain a big wake-up call…roll with the punches and make the best of whatever comes my way.
So, here’s to 2014…may we all end up happier and healthier than even 2013!
